iYOTAH SOLUTIONS
nTELL PLATFORM: USES OVERLAID DATA TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS

BRIAN WALDNER FROM BLUMENFELD HOLSTEINS SHARES HIS EXPERIENCE AS AN nTELL PILOT

Overview

Blumenfeld Holsteins is a 500 cow herd in West Central, MN. iYOTAH Solutions has worked with Blumenfeld's herd manager, Brian Waldner, since the inception of iYOTAH's pilot herd program. Brian has a passion for innovation, which has been key in developing a platform to assist dairy producers to review their data and make critical business decisions. Blumenfled Holsteins produce elite bulls through rigorous breeding programs and work to yield the highest- quality milk.

What We Did

In working with iYOTAH on a weekly basis providing input and guidance on how multiple siloed data sources can be best overlaid, Brian concludes, “I strongly feel that iYOTAH’s data merging and analysis can benefit any progressive dairy today.” Brian’s real-life experiences working with the platform has helped identify potential sampling errors that saved them a loss of revenue if it had not been identified.

In reviewing data that will translate to the Feed Analysis KPA (Key Performance Area) on iYOTAH’s nTELL platform, Brian shares, “We’re able to track feeding consistencies, or inconsistencies, on a daily basis and pinpoint areas for improvement. And we all know what a little adjusting can do to a feed bill!”

"I’m excited about what iYOTAH has started and where they will help producers like me and our industry." says Brian Waldner

Conclusion

Due to Blumenfeld’s rigorous breeding program, iYOTAH worked to understand how the nTELL platform could be of value. Brian explains, “iYOTAH has been extremely helpful in identifying which calves can be culled to help us achieve a heifer raising rate that will fulfill our dairy’s needs while- not overproducing and avoid the costly expenses of raising youngstock.” By not raising a calf to a heifer that has less-than-ideal genomics for the farm, approximately $1,800-2,000 is saved per animal.

As KPAs continue to be built and made available for producers and their trusted advisors, Brian sees a lot of potential for his farm. “I’m excited about what iYOTAH has started and where they will help producers like me and our industry.”
