Producer-Led Innovation Challenge with AgriNovus

Overview

On December 11, 2020 AgriNovus Indiana, an initiative focused on growing Indiana's agbioscience economy announced that the Benton Group from Ambia, Indiana in partnership with iYOTAH Solutions won the Producer-Led Innovation Challenge. The Benton Group's Challenge team included Keith Hoeing from the Benton Group as well as Paul Ousterhout and Elaine Thorndike from iYOTAH Solutions.

WHAT WE DID

Participants worked to create a solution that accomplished the following:

  • Reduces manual data entry (typically conducted in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or similar) by automating the aggregation of data from farm operating systems
  • Makes it possible for data quality to be validated quickly (examples: field-level information, seed inventory, accounting entries, etc.)
  • Automates alert notifications based on farmer-defined standards and user roles
  • Visualizes data to quickly make easily informed decisions

The Benton Group as well as Ousterhout and Thorndike from iYOTAH Solutions innovative technology designed to ingest data from multiple data sources, secure that data in the cloud and provide data analytics offering better and more connected information. Additionally, this technology is being built with key input from industry leaders as well as pilot herd.

Conclusion

The group was selected as the winners of the Producer-Led Innovation Challenge. They were selected among 15 teams with total participants.
