Cows productivity and success comes with consistent routine and more importantly, adequate feed to fuel them at all stages. Corn silage season is underway across the country, creating future feed for herds. Thus, tracking feed stuffs is highly important as it has significant impacts on milk production and ultimately, the milk check. As producers navigate new feed transitions, nTELL helps highlight their effects.
Initially the “DM by Ingredients” graph in the Feed KPA (Key Performance Area) may appear overwhelming with the multitude of lines. However, simple navigations throughout the platform assist in interpreting the data.
EXAMPLE
To hone in on the wet ingredients - “turn off” the dry ingredients to see the finer details. For example, this chart easily shows how the farm’s DM is decreasing.
Then, when looking at the Production KPA and reviewing the farm’s components over time, during that same period of decreased DM in the corn silage, the cows decreased in butterfat.
Its easy to see how nTELL can be used to simultaneously view multiple factors of the dairy and see how they work together. As new silage is brought in and incorporated nTell provides the means to track those feed ingredients and in real time, show how the herd and individual cows are impacted. Even the smallest detail in feed changes matters to any cow, let alone hundreds or thousands on an operation!
What could nTELL help you see in your feed intake when new silage is incorporated?
